Somewhere between the sermon and the washing up, most of us have asked whether serving is meant to feel this heavy. In years of pastoral work the people most tired are rarely the ones sitting still, they are the ones who have spent themselves quietly for others and wonder if anyone noticed, including God. These verses do not flatten that tiredness into a slogan. Kindness sounds like a small word until you are the one who needs it and nobody is offering it. In pastoral work I have sat with people who could recite whole passages of Scripture but had forgotten what it felt like to be treated gently, and with others who had never opened a Bible but somehow knew, in their bones, how to be kind. These verses are for both. They are less about becoming nicer and more about learning to see people the way God sees them, and the way He has already seen you.
