Bible Verses on Kindness and Compassion

In pastoral work I have sat with people who could recite whole passages of Scripture but had forgotten what it felt like to be treated gently — and with others who had never opened a Bible but somehow knew, in their bones, how to be kind. These verses are for both. They are less about becoming nicer and more about learning to see people the way God sees them, and the way He has already seen you. How to read a page like this Don't read this the way you'd read a list of quotes for a card. Slow down. Pick one group — whichever line in the intro catches something in you — and read those four or five verses twice, out loud if you can. The first time, read for meaning.
