Jesus respects our free will so deeply that He won't break down the door of our hearts. Instead, He waits for us to hear His voice and respond.

The door represents the entrance to our hearts, our innermost being. Maybe you've closed this door through busyness, doubt, sin, or simply neglect. Perhaps you've never opened it at all. Whatever your situation, Jesus isn't angry—He's standing there, persistently and patiently knocking, hoping you'll hear Him.

The Promise of Intimate Fellowship

Notice what Jesus promises when we open the door: "I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me." In biblical times, eating together was the deepest expression of intimacy and covenant relationship. Jesus isn't offering a distant transaction; He's offering friendship, communion, and presence.

This echoes what Jesus said earlier: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28, NIV). He's inviting us not just to believe correct doctrine, but to experience His comfort and companionship in real, tangible ways.

How Do We 'Open the Door'?

You don't need fancy words or perfect circumstances. A simple prayer from the heart works: "Jesus, I hear You knocking. I'm opening the door. Come into my life. Forgive me, guide me, and be my Lord." This isn't a one-time moment but the beginning of a relationship that grows and deepens over time.

It's Never Too Late to Listen
