Prayers for Every Situation: A Complete Collection
I started writing these prayers one at a time, usually because someone I know was going through the thing I was writing about — a diagnosis, a job that fell through, a child who stopped going to church. Scattered across the site they were hard to find when you actually needed them, which rather defeated the point. So I have gathered all of them here, in one place, organised by the situation you are facing.
You do not need to read this page from top to bottom. Find the heading that matches where you are tonight, pray the prayer in your own words, and sit with the verse underneath it. These are not magic formulas. They are simply honest words you can borrow on a day when you cannot find your own.

Prayers for Others and for the Journey
a Loved One Far From God
If you're lying awake at night worried about someone you love who has turned away from God, you're not alone. Many faithful believers carry the weight of watching a family member or close friend drift from faith, and it can feel like your heart is breaking in slow motion. But here's what we need to remember: God's love for that person is infinitely greater than yours, and He invites us into the powerful work of intercession.
Lord, I bring before You someone I love deeply who has drifted from You. I trust that You love them far more than I do. Open their eyes to see Your goodness, soften their heart toward faith, and work in ways I cannot see. Give me wisdom to know when to speak and when to simply love them, and help me to rest in Your promise that You are not willing that any should perish. In Jesus' name, amen.
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9, NIV)

Therefore I urge you, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. (1 Timothy 2:1-2, NIV)
God's Favor Over Your Life
